Vision Statement: A voice recognized in the community and in Ontario
that has proven success for change and research. French River
Resorts united with cottagers for the mutual use and care of the
natural resources for years to come.
Fisheries Committee:
French River Resorts Association representatives are on the Sturgeon
River, Lake Nipissing, French River Watershed Management Advisory
Group - During the spring freshet (approximately mid-march to
mid-may) representatives are on a weekly conference call with the
Department of Public Works, the Ministry of Natural Resources,
Hydro, Municipalities, etc., to establish a game plan that
minimizes the fluctuation of water during the critical periods of
the walleye spawn. The level should be maintained for the duration
of 28 to 35 days with Mother Nature’s co-operation. The flow is
reset for the bass spawn.
Representation and voices on the Stewardship Council for the Georgian
Bay North Channel area.
Representation on the French River Provincial Park Joint Management
Advisory Committee: meets twice a year by FRRA representatives and
FRRA cottagers -Provides an interaction with Ontario Parks. Some of
the projects undertaken were the Visitor’s Center, production of a
small tabloid for the Park, a big project was the Mashkinonje
Provincial Park this will draw visitors up the Hwy.64 corridor, and
campsites numbered on Park map for emergency, police, and park services.
Representation and voices on the Rainbow Country Travel Association:
Access to knowledge of outside funding available to area on owners
through Rainbow Country Travel Association monitoring
Reduced membership for lodge owners in Rainbow Country Travel
Association by being a member of French River Resorts Association.
Advertising through the French River Resorts Association purchases
in Rainbow Travel Guide and Sport Shows.French River Resorts
Association is a Member of
NOTO to enhance our voice in legislative proposals and actions,
assistance in marketing opportunities and a support system for
answers.
Support and knowledge network of other owners on business, marketing
and resources available to other members.
French River Resorts Association Enhancement Committee - the
Association provides continual financial support of the West Arm
Turkey Program.
Guest speakers invited from local, provincial, federal groups, other
travel associations, and partners.

Phase II - Documentary of the Heritage of the French River - early
groundwork starting on this major 2 hour film production. Seeking
